PCV delete or catch can?

I've had the blower off of my car 3 times. Every time I take it off, the intercooler has oil on it and there is oil in the lower. The culprit is the pcv system. How do I solve this problem. The simple solutions seems to be plug the holes in the intake tract and vent the valve covers. Suggestions?? The blower is off of my car now, so this should be an easy problem to solve.

2 filters for 240$? I think not. Moot09, how do you plan on routing the lines? There are 3 points vented, both valve covers, and the bottom of the lower manifold.

the one i found was 119$. can i run one of these and then vent the other side? why is the one in the bottom of the lower manifold even on there?

Once you start with the breather(s), mind as well delete the entire EGR system. Think carefully on the EGR delete before you decide to do it.

i didnt know it was a factor. its in my signature. whats the significance?

Damn, in the sig it is, duh for me. Since you have deleted the EGR system go breathers and catch can. Without the EGR and vacuum with pre-filters, you may always have oil there. There is no point to the JLT pre-filters in that case.

Third sentence is confusing. Although I doubt it pertains to me. So, breather on passenger side, and catch can on the driver side... right? What is the hose that goes to the bottom of the lower intake manifold? Can I just get rid of that and run the catch can right back into the back of the blower??

i agree cleaning ic sucks when you have your pcv system still hooked up. i bought my car and decided it was time to clean it out. it took 8 cans of brake cleaner to get it semi clean. that is when i decided to go with a catch can.

this is the crap that came out

i used cheap pcv inserts from auto zone with 5/8th heater hose

I used a T to connect both valve covers together and hooked them into a moroso catch can that i picked up off ebay for 40 dollars

its a little ghetto right now cause im going to move my catch can in the fender but it was real cheap to make and it works just fine. no more oil in my intake and ic. if you decide to go this rout be sure to block off the line under the intake manifold, and the one at the back of the sc.

EGR and PCV are not related to each other in terms of function. Both serve are emission devices, but do not affect one another.

OP, search for recent PCV, catch can, oil separator threads. This has been discussed a few times recently.

Those cans usually have nothing inside, and rely on gravity to pull the oil droplets out of the mix.

You need something with a filtering media inside.

A reduction in vapor velocity causes condensation and collection, not gravity.

where are you getting vacuum at for the catch can? or is it just vapor that you are catching? if thats the case, the only thing you are doing is keeping the underhood clean. Air comes in the passenger side, and out of the driver side in the factory set up.

Do some reading on how a PCV system works. Unless you are going to a closed system (routing one valve cover to the other) or using open breathers on both valve covers there is no reason to touch the passenger side valve cover.

On the passenger side near the intake, air is taken into the engine and this air is already metered air because it is after the MAF. The air comes out the drivers side, and this air needs to be sent to back of the blower because it's air that has been metered. Your oil catch can only needs to be between the driver side PCV valve (there isn't a PCV valve on the passenger side) and the back of the blower.

I may not be catching all of the oil, but I catch quite a bit of oil in my ebay universal catch can.
