Paxton Charged Tires on AMR 18

SVTP,

I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on tires for a 650hp Paxton car on AMR 18s wheels. I'm currently running the 18" staggered 9" front and 10" rear rims with 255/45 and 275/40.

The current Sumitomo HTR Z II tires that came with the wheels are barely cutting it for my full bolt on NA application and I'm looking for something that will be great on the street with light drag/track applications. It barely rains here so I'm wondering what the widest/best tire would be for this relatively small diameter rim. It would be great to reuse the rim with a wider tire, but AMR doesn't recommend anything over 275.

Currently suspension is as follows:

Tokico D specs + Steeda Ultralights
BMR Panhard/support
BMR LCA Relocation
GT500 LCA
Steeda UCA + Mount
Steeda bumpsteer/x11 yet to be installed

Thanks!

Nitto 555R's are great for a driver car. If you want a really sticky tire look into the Toyo R888 or the Nittor NT05R

I have to disagree! the toyo's and nitto NT05r are both GREAT tires however they are more for the concerning individual who wants to handle well, not stick due to power. For example both would be great on a warm day running on a STI or EVO, however to stick on a mustang with power I would look for something cheap and soft honestly, you will destroy the toyos and nitto's very quickly by spinning them on a high(er) HP RWD vehicle

Yeah I think that basically covers it. We can close the thread down now. lol

NT555R's are great for the drag strip. 305's are maxing out the 10" wide wheel, so I'd go for that.

They dead hook on the street and do decent in the rain. My car is a manual so they aren't ideal for the track but are serviceable.

Got any better suggestions for the street? I'm at a loss as to what can hold up to a lot of power. I'd feel terrible blowing a wad of cash on MPSS 275&305 just to melt them in 10k miles, this is my DD.

I dd on 285/40/18 nitto 555 year round. Don't try to launch from ever light, but not too bad and they are holding up. I have 295/60/15 mt on 15x10 for fun.

+1. Thats what i run all the time, street and strip. I can cut a mid to high 1.7 60ft at the track feathering it and i can hook pretty good on the street in warm weather. Not bad for a 20" rim and 305 tire. Cold weather its spin city first thru second. Overall I love them. Have about 5k miles on them with 6-7 passes at the track after burn outs and they still have a good amount of tread left.

Im thinking either nitto nt05 or 555r.. Ive also heard decent reviews about hankook rs3, but those were on 400-450whp cars

Im running 305-40-18 nt555r on my amr 18s. Im running a Paxton with 3.33 pulley. Fulls bmr suspension. Its been cold so first spins but 2nd on hits hard. I like them tho I will prolly buy 305-45-18 nt05r or 315 nt555r when these give out. Don't get a small sidewall get a 40-45 the better the sidewall the better chance of traction.

I ran Nitto 555r 305/40/18 on my 18" AMRs with my Roush TVS. Good all around tire for all weather conditions.

Dragging this up from the grave as I'm now riding 10+ psi to 700whp.

Settled on the NT555/NT555r combo but I'm not sure on sizing. Both sizes throw off my speedo and I'm afraid running too skinny of a tire in the front will make it impossible to fix with the SCT Tuner. Should I be looking at different side profiles?

About ready to pull the trigger as my Sumitomos are now mush.

hey lovebread, I'm running the 555 in front in 275/40/18 and 555r 305/40/18 in rear, al are on 18/9.5 Shelby wheels and work great. the 305/45 is 28.8'' tall so it might hurt your gearing. if I remember right I think the 305/40 is 27.2''. I was able to correct the speedo with the sct tuner. no problems or lights. if you were closer I would let you try the 555r's as I'm replacing with a 295/45/18 555. just no need of a dr anymore

Seems like I'm going to end up leaning towards the 275/40 and 305/40 in 18s as they're least likely to mess up my gearing. I'm going to switch to 3.31s when I get the chance but that won't be for awhile.

No love for the MT ET Street DR's? I just ordered a set. My Invos are spin city at this power level.
