passport radar problems?

Hi guys I want to run this by the guys with radar knowledge. I have a year old passport 8500 and was working fine until couple days ago when its going crazy with laser alarms and up in RI they don't use it.someone told me could be my battery dieing is this b#llsh@t or should I replace battery help is always appreciated

ps. I just purchased the Redline with the new BS/RDR software and it's absolutely a beast of a detector. Got rid of my Valentine 1.

I had an older 8500 passport that did the same thing. I ended up trading it in for an Escort Redline and haven't had an issue since.
