Just put new pads on the rear and new parking brake cables, but having trouble getting them connected. Calipers move freely and the cables are routed properly and on the correct sides, but it seems like theyre too short.
I removed the handle assembly, wound the spring, and put a pin in it to hold the tension. When I reinstall on the car, hook the cables up, and release the pin the assembly doesnt release enough to grab any teeth so I have no brake. Question is what would cause this? They are Dorman replacement cables, could they be to short? They're similar to the stock ones that I removed. I attached photos of the mechanism wound and held with the pin, and also when the pin is released. Car is an 01 GT, any help appreciated.
