I am installing a SPEC P-trim in a 2012 GT500, and the kit includes a shim(~1/4") for the slave cylinder. The very brief directions don't say anything about the shim. The slave is stock for 2012. Anyone know when the shim is required?

I think you need the 07-09 gt500 slave in order to install the clutch
and that's not a shim its the pilot bearing for the clutch

The flat plate provided with the kit, is defineitely not the pilot bearing. I have installed a few P-trims in other cars, and this is the first kit to come with the plate/shim.

The shim is mainly used on 2013 and 2014 GT500's.

Now some cars still need the shim which spaces the slave cylinder closer to the pressure plate so it reaches and activates the pressure plate completely when the clutch is depressed.

Van do you need to use an 07-09 Slave Cylinder with the Spec clutches? I was under the impression that was only Mcleod.

SPEC Clutches are manufactured to the specific year. Order a new slave cylinder according to the year of vehicle.

2007-2009 Models are Specific
2010 Model is specfic
2011-2014 are all one model number now and that changed late 2014

I measured the difference between the stock clutch and the P-trim, and found the P-trim was ~0.6" shorter. The shim/spacer provided was about 0.2, so I used the shim behind the slave to take up some of the height difference. I also talked wth SPEC this morning, and they confirmed the spacer was required for a 2012 with stock slave.

Wierd because Spec suggested use of 07-09 slave with their P trim on my 12. Clutch works fantastic and never mentioned a spacer.
