Ok, so my radiator started leaking. The other night I started overheating so I immediately pulled off the highway. I filled my radiator back up with water near the exit of Camp Pendleton near the 76, and was able to drive home without overheating.

But now, when I start my my car, my water gauge needle doesn't move. It's sitting about a 1/2" below the mark. I even let it idle for a bit and it never came up.

What could be causing this? Could it be that the Temp gauge went so high that it caused this issue? Or could it be something related to the temp sensor?

Thanks

If the coolant is below half, like you say, then it probably won't be reaching the temperature sender for your guage. Since the sender only goes off of water temperature, the water not flowing past and over it could be the cause of your malfunctioning guage.

Find the cause of the leak and fix it, fill and burp the system, and try again.
