I've read that some people are raising the rev limiters to 7.5k+ after installing the Boss intake, cams, etc. Our redline is at 7k. So at what point is the engine starting to be compromised? Obviously Ford decided that point was 7k, but in real world applications, what've you seen?

I would think shifting at 7300 with the boss intake would not hurt the engine, but i guess its hard to say, i would think 7500 is a bit much.

i shift at 7200-7300 with the boss manifold. Everything seems to be holding up pretty well. I wouldnt go over 7500 though, thats a little too much. Without the boss manifold, power drops off by 7k rpm so there really is no point in revving it past there without the boss manifold

There are alot of guys/tuners spinning the stock valvetrain to 74-7500, longevity would be an issue at this level IMO. Yes they'll spin this high, for how long? I have no idea... I wouldn't risk it myself. I'd stay near 7ish unless you replace springs/retainers...etc.

I shift at ~7,700 at the track and have been as high as the PCM allowed which is just over 7,800.

No issues so far. We datalogged the car when tuning and everything seemed perfectly happy at 7,700. The real risk is the oil pump gears and on manual cars the stock clutch. Those should be changed out at some point.
