Anyone here using one? I bought one this weekend, and it's about 1/4" too long to fit down in the battery tray. Any ideas how to get it to work?

I used to have one. I cut the end side of the battery tray off and used the optima hold down kit it comes with to hold it down. No problems.

My Optima didn't come with a hold down kit?

What did you use to cut the tray? I don't want it to look like a ghetto hack job.

:coolman:If you did not receive an Optima clamp with the battery, call Optima directly and they will send you one free of charge.

Gosh! Could there be two different sizes that the Optima comes in? Why yes, yes there is.

And for what seems like the millionth time I have typed this on a car forum:
The small size fits with no modifications to the tray and a hold down spacer.
The large size fits if you cut the tray and use hold down spacers.
A new tray is only $14 at the Ford parts counter so cut away and get a new one if you need a "do over"

O.k. not to jack the thread or anything, but which Red Top do ya'll have installed in ya'lls car? I e-mailed Optima because they didnt have one listed for our cars under the search on their website & this is what they sent me & it says nothing about the battery tray being too small, but there might be a height issue. I guess with the hood. Thanks for ya'lls help.

The correct battery is the Red 34 or Yellow D34. It has been reported
that
there may be a height issue. If this is the case, the Red 25, Red
75/25, or
Yellow D75/25 will also work.
