i've been reading up on t45's and t3650's, and it says the t45 speedo is mech, and the t3650 is electronic.
i pulled out my dash to hook up my tach and i dont have a speedo cable. Also yesterday when i dropped the tranny, it's electronic.
There is no tag saying what it is, the only thing it says is tremac and there's a dyno tested sticker on top. is there a way to tell what it is?

You should have a t45 man.. I think the mechanical vs electric is in the T45, it still has a speedo gear, just a electrical signal...and a 3650 might have a strictly electronic sensor with no speedo gear

I have a 98 and there is no mechanical connection between trans and the speedo.

Correct, but the speedo itself is still mechanical.. It has a gear on the speedo and a drive gear on the tailshaft of the transmission. It then sends an electrical signal to the cluster..

An electronic speedo would be like a VSS or hall-effect sensor.. With no moving gears or cables
