I have a Canton road race oil pan and windage tray (also, ARP main bolts). I was spacing my pickup tube and ended up having to put 8 washers (5 before the mounting nut, 3 after) just to get the pickup tube withing the 5/16th to 3/8th inch recommendation that canton gave me.

I was wondering if anybody else had with the same setup had to use this many spacers.

Are you using their windage tray? That requires an extra gasket and the thickness of the tray itself which will move the floor of the pan further away from the pick-up.

I hate having to use any spacers. Just something else to worry about.

I just cut and rewelded a pickup tube that was spaced too high off the bottom of the pan.

I used 2 valve main studs, but the tube still need work to fit right. I worked the bracket and the tube in a vise until it was at the right height (using no more then hand pressure). I only used one gasket under the canton tray and sealed the tray to the block: no leaks in four years.
