I transplanted a 03 cobra engine and transmission in a 92 GT about 4 months ago and recently it developed an oil leak in the rear main seal area. When I changed the oil about a month ago the back of the engine had the typical seepage but it was not wet with oil. Shortly after changing the oil I noticed spots of oil on the garage floor about the size of a quarter. I jacked up the car and looked under there last night and the back of the engine is wet with oil. It’s engine oil, not transmission oil so I’m assuming the rear main seal is leaking but it came on pretty quick. The engine only has 42K miles on it so I wouldn’t think the rear main seal would leak yet. Is there anything else back there that the oil could be coming from? I can’t see anything leaking down from the top (valve covers, etc). It’s not a bad leak, but it annoys me.
