One thing to consider is the pistons need heat before they seal.
Are guys who idle/baby the engines consuming more oil? I basically start mine, wait till head temp is over 100 and drive it normally and shift before 3500 rpm.
Once oil temp is up to 170 I'm more content with harder pulls and I try to have at least have oil temp of 190 before twisting it over 8000.
