Oil burning question

Wondering how to tell if burning oil is coming from lower end or from the heads? I usually smell a little oil during moderate to hard acceleration and at start up but have yet to see smoke at either time. Just wondering if there is a way to tell.

This might sound elementary... but do you have an oil separator? I was SHOCKED when I saw how much that thing actually catches that wouldn've otherwise went strait in through the pcv

i have my pcv blocked and have had it like that for 4 years now no oil separator.

Totally blocked and the engine has no way to vent?

If so, I think that would contaminate the oil that much quicker and probably eat seals and stuff...I'm no engine expert so I could be way off the mark....Im just wondering what your valve guides might look like.
