oem HID question

i just bought 2013 oem hid headlights without bulbs and ballasts. the oem parts are d3s osram components.

however, i am seeing online talk about using d1s components instead because the choice in bulbs are better? is this true? is it worth converting to d1s or should i stay with d3s?

D3S and D4S are mercury free bulbs that require different ballasts, you would would at least have to replace that system itself to work.

As far as I'm aware, the D1S bulbs won't just fit into our housings. Pretty sure it will require a different projector to be retofitted into the headlight, which could end up being a costly project. I've tried to get The Retrofit Source to help give me ideas and pointers to no avail.
