Odometer

Is the Lightning's ecu directly related to the odometer? I'm asking because a friend is having a no start issue, odometer isn't reading anything, and the XCT can't connect with the ecu.

The ecm is not powering on. Had same issue and the 5v+ out put from the ecm was grounded and causing the ecm to go into protect mode. in my case one of the wires for the egr sensors had grounded out on the power steering reservoir bracket.
