I've actually been to a shop with that exact set up. If that hole has some type of vacuum, I see no problem. If not, then I understand the " not sure if serious" lol

It is vacuum controlled, but the other side still emits exhaust.. Not as much tho...Lol

If the pipe is purely a sniffer for the exhaust, then yes - 1 of the 4 pipes being hooked up is fine.

If the pipe is actually for getting the exhaust out of the building...then they are kind of missing the other 75% of the problem...

If you want to have some fun with one of those floor exhaust vent systems just close all but one of the flaps and then put one of those corrugated exhaust hoses in the open one and lay the hose in a circle around the vent.

If done properly and the system has good flow it'll make that hose howl like there's no tomorrow. :beer:
