I know there isn't an Escort forum here, but I'd assume most of the factory parts are similar in regard. If not, my apologies!

Anyhow, I own a '00 Escort ZX2 as a work car... recently, it's popped two lug studs. After knocking out the studs from the hub, I've found it quite impossible to insert the new, longer studs due to lack of clearance.

Any suggestions as to fitting the new studs in between the hub assembly and the main wheel bracket?

is this ZX2 an S/R? Are you trying to replace the front or rear bolts?

if it is an S/R and you are replacing rear bolts, there is a hole which you can slide them through on the back side of the spindle.

if it is not an S/R and you are replacing the rear bolts, it will be better to remove the rear hub (you can use a 1 1/4" socket for this)

if you are replacing the front bolts, you can wiggle it into position with the hole pointing downward toward the tie rod end.
