noise on acceleration?

I have noticed lately that my car is making an exhaust leak type noise from the drivers side front when accelerating between 2700 and 3200 rpms. It can be reproduced all of the time in this rpm range no matter what gear, cannot hear it unless the car is under a load? Can't hear it unless the windows are up. Has anyone else noticed this? Is it normal, or do I have a problem? I realyl don't want to take this thing to the dealership

so I also found it only does it when the car is at operating temp....sounds like it comes from the firewall area inside where the sound tube probably goes in. What should I check with this stupid sound tube thing to make sure its like it should be?
