I think we all heard Nittos ran a bit narrower than other tires but can I squeeze a nitto 555 285 on the front on my 18X9's? Would the nitto 285 be closer to a 275?

I was thinking of nitto 555's:

18X9 front with a 285
18X10 with 305

Clue me in... :burnout:

I think the 555's are pretty much normal sized. I have a 275 on the back of my 17x8s, so you shouldn't have any problem putting that size on a 17x9. It'll buldge a little bit.

The 555R's (drag radials) are what run narrow, and you can squeeze a 315 555r on a 17x9 from what I've heard.

It's only the 555r's that run narrow. The regular 555's run very close to size. Also, I don't like the 275's up front, I'm about to replace them with 255's. I know my 275's rub up front when turning very sharp. I'd go narrower on the front, don't really know of any benefits of going wider. The 285's should fit fine on a 9 inch wheel to answer your question, but again, not something I'd want to run.

Wider up front for more grip ;-)

It's the NT 555 RII, I I take it since there's an "R" in there they would be narrow compared to the standard 555's

I could also go with 315/30/18 Falken Azenis for the back, but the sizes they make that would go up front would be a 275.

you should watch the clearance on the 285's I have 275's and you have to watch the rubbing during full lock.... not like you are ever at full lock during a autoX if that is your plan

I haven't had any clearance problems with my 275's up front so I'm ok  If I did I would fab some space

a 285 is far too big for the front. Unless you have extensive suspension modifications, your car will never even come close to needing a 285 in the front. 275 is the max i would put on the front. 265/35 ,imo and that of most people on this board, is perfect
