Newbie Question

In regards to the rear leafs, what are shackles and what do they do? Also, what are hangers and what do they do?

Hangers are the brackets that bolt to the frame that support the shackle. Normally they are riveted onto the frame.

Shackles are the pivot/link between the frame mounted hanger and the leaf springs themselves.

From top to bottom: Hangers, bump stops, shackles and pinion shims.
