Good morning everybody, as you can see this'll be my first post. I'm in the market for a new car and I've found this 2001 GT 4.6L yellow on black interior new edge mustang for a very reasonable price. What do you guys thing? Are the mods tasteful, should I pull the trigger on it? Thank you!!
This vehicle has recently had professionally installed Vortech V-1 Super Charger kit with front mount inter-cooler, 2.5 mm tail blow off valves, performance package, including intake manifold, stack racing intake plenum, BBK 90 mm throttle body spacer, SCT big air mass flow sensor 90 mm, SCT tuner, Ford racing 410 rear end gear, BBK sub frame connectors, BBK off road pipes, louad mouth catback exhaust, plug in mil eliminators, Monroe struts and shocks, street/strip valve body, 8 psi pulley, Ford racing 80 LB injectors, SSR racing wheels (18 x 18) front and (18 x 11) rear. Vehicle has 106,056 miles with entire drive train less than 5,000 miles.

Welcome. Do you have a link for the car? There are a few flags in that post for me. 1 being the v1 blower, older design not as efficient as the new v2 and v3. The throttle body spacer isn't doing that car any good and I'd like to know what intake manifold is on it. If it's something like a professional products or edelbrock it could be hurting the street manners. The wheel sizes can't be correct and those Monroe sensaCRAP shocks and struts would need to go the first weekend.

If you can get the car at a good price it may be worth it depending on the overall condidtion.

The car looks clean but I go check it out. Those rim sizes are also incorrect. That looks like an 18x9 and 18x10 setup. I wouldn't pay a dime over 6 for it. That intake is also a professional products piece and is actually hurting the low end on that car. It's important because that blower provides zero TQ improvement below 3000 rpms which is where most of your street driving happens.

Going to check the car out as we speak. I'm familiar with aftermarket parts but not for muscle cars. Making the transition from german to american. Hence the questions and what to look for

Might not be too bad for the money, would all depend on how it shows\runs\drives. Also would only buy if your the type of person that is OK with some problems coming up and doing some wrenching. Good thing is parts are cheap and the cars are easy to work on as compared to anything German.

The car looked amazing cosmetically inside and out, except the aftermarket rims which seems to have some sort of minimal rust build up. Under the hood it simply needs some detailing. The car sounded amazing, but the battery wasn't holding charge so the dealer is getting a new battery so I can test drive it tomorrow. It has an alarm system built in so we didn't have the know-how to remove the battery without making noise. It has an pioneer touchscreen multimedia system, but it felt very slow and finnicky not sure how I feel about it (hey at least it has AUX this way). The tyres did seem odd, pretty thick and unusual size like it was pointed out by you guys. Probably has to be changed?
I'm pretty excited about it, could be my entry-level car to american modding brotherhood!
For my peace of mind I want to find and go to a knowledgeable mechanic and get a tuneup, fill fluids get an oil flush etc. Speaking about oil, what do you guys recommend? and gasoline wise still 93 octane I suppose.

You have to run 93 with a blower. If you run 87 and get into it the engine will most likely let go. As far as oil goes you should do some reading and figure out what you're willing to spend. Instead of paying someone to do simple maintenance I suggest getting your hands dirty and do it yourself. None of what you want to do is complicated and the experience with the car will do you a lot of good.

I would also see if you can dig up some history on the car and or figure out exactly what you have. I would get a cheap bore scope to see if the previous owner forged the engine and seriously loom into ditching that manifold and get it re tuned. Even if you don't ditch the manifold I'd have the car re tuned to make sure it's safe and not on the ragged edge.

No problem used to running 93, you're so right and I've always been doing like oil/filter change myself 5W-40 full synthetic for my old car. I'll do some research on it!
That's exactly my point, I need to get a tune up, just have to find the right mechanic to do so. I have some sort of road trip planned like a month later, and I'd love to take the new car on a long journey and enjoy it :)

I think you may have misunderstood what he said. You should take the mustang to a tuner, if you get the mustang, and have them check out the tune and make sure it's a conservative tune. Some people try to run a more aggressive tune for a few more hp, but at a higher risk for something breaking. And there is no shortage of people out there using cheap cars to learn how to tune. You just want to spend a little money with a reputable tuner to make sure the car won't blow up when you step on the gas.

As stated, it's definitely not the most efficient version of the vortech out there, but by no means bad. The monroe struts/shocks are absolute garbage. They would be the first things to go. That intake manifold and throttle body spacer aren't doing you any favors either. There are better options on the market.

You're right I'd rather have a more conservative tune and nothing breaking down. Been researching for good/reliable/easy on the price tuners in south florida all morning. With oil people are torn between 5w30 or 10w30. How much am I looking to spend for new struts/shocks and what should I look for, and what intake manifold would be recommended?

So guys I pulled the trigger and purchased the vehicle, I bought it knowing that the intake manifold is a little cracked and needs to be replaced soon and the bearing inside the V-1 is broken hence it makes a whining noise. What parts for decent prices would you guide me through?

The intake is ceacked? Where?

The vortech may be fine as V-1 is a very noisy blower because the gears inside are straight cut. Do some searching on YouTube and listen to a few of them and compare. You can also take the inlet tube off and check the impeller for play and case contact.
