Ive been a member here on the forum for some time. I joined in search of a gen1 L for $5500 and under. I ended up buying a 2000 Lightning on Friday evening for $6500. I had to drive around 250miles round trip to get it. Here are the details:
2000 SVT Lightning in Silver. 195,xxx miles; seems like a lot but everything is in tip top shape. Engine runs good, trans shifts good. Truck has a 9.25” Lower pulley, JLP Airbox, otherwise stock. More on this later. The bad-ish: Needs 2 front tires, rears are brand new 295/45/18 555 Nitto; Needs brake job front and rear; Need a passenger side a-pillar cover; drivers seat has a tear in the suede on the lower half; Ok so onto the pulley/airbox/maf situation.. Im not sure if the truck has a tune, it still has the 80mm MAF. Anywho, Ive been advised to get an upgraded MAF and a tune. Also, not to get into boost, which of course Im aware of. This isn’t my first boosted vehicle. But it is my first Lightning. So, my only power plans with this truck include gutting the CATs/deleting them. And what the truck has, the 9.25” O.D. lower pulley and JLP Airbox. I only bought this truck as it is a cool SVT product, I don’t plan on racing it. If anything, this will just be a grocery getting, pull my trailer for my deck business, haul the dogs to the vet clinic etc. Can I just buy the AEM 95mm housing and install my 80mm MAF sensor into it, and have a tune written for that?
