Ok, first of all I know many here are not in favor of a canned tune, but here is one from SCT that is 50 state leagal and supposedly California compliant C.A.R.B.. I have tried a Bama tune and didnt like it and it wasnt c.a.r.b. approved. Here is one that I think is recently new, has anybody tried this one. Im stuck in California and dont want a tune that I have to change back to stock every time I need a smog test, Maybe this is a solution??

If I'm reading the description correctly it says the programmer is legal. Nothing about a tune being legal.

Not sure, it shows 4 different C.A.R.B approved numbers---maybe for the 4 installed tunes?? Im going to call SCT next week.

In fact, if I'm reading it right, you are not getting a tune at all, just a programmer.
I take that back after reading further, it does say "PERFORMANCE: Preloaded, dyno-proven tunes boost power & torque"

But if you look at " vehicle application", it lists like 86 years/vehicles. If it came with a CARB approved tune, which of the "86" would it be?

The 4 CARB numbers are most likely 4 versions of the tuner (you can see the tuner part numbers each have a different dash number at the end).

Lethal Performance sells them and between SCT and them the descriptions seem confusing and maybe misleading, here is Lethal Performance one--pretty much the same as SCT.

Does what I posted above not answer your question?

Why wouldn’t you want a tune where you go back to stock. It only takes a few mins to switch. If you’re gonna get a tune might as well get a custom and not canned.

I called SCT. yeah the actual loaded tunes are not C.A.R.B certified even though they list the tunner as 50 state legal-----that makes it confusing. They actually do have some loaded tuners with tunes that are c.a.r.b. certified, they mentioned some later mustangs with ecoboost engines.

That had mostly to do with the Bama tune that i didnt like because I didnt like the sound of the engine with any of the tunes loaded (had a rough sound and feel at middle and higher rpms)and the idle was high and alot of people here were saying it will destroy my engine, so I uninstalled it. If there was a good canned tune that I could trust I wouldnt mind having to uninstall for smog test. There is no one in my area that is known for mustang tunes.

Some tuners will do a remote tune. Might look in to that.
