can anyone recomend some tires that are nice and grippy, but also decent in the rain(daily driver). I plan to be running 17x8(MAYBE 9) fronts, 17x10.5 rears if that matters.

My Ex wife has Goodyears GSD3s. I can't stand goodyear, but they are a nice tire. She has 17x9s all around runnin' 275/40s. I have 285/35-18s in BFG G-Force. I like the BFGs better.

If you do the 17 x 10.5's in the rear. DO NOT BUY THE SUMITUMO HTRZ's. I had them on my 00 GT and they were horrible. With the 10.5's you can put a fat 315 35 17's on the back although they will be a little pricey.

Since everyone says what NOT to use.

I used BFG KDW's and got over 30K on them. I ran 245 up front on 17*8 and 275 on a 17*8 also.

I lived in Fl and I needed a tire that could handle the rain and these did it no problems. Hydroplaning was cut down.

I loved them and still use them today.

I have the GY GDS3's- phenominal tire A++++. I have also run the BFG KDW's, also a very good tire. As good as the GY's- just louder. Ditto on the Sumitomos- undoubtedly the WORST tire I've ever tried. TERRIBLE dry traction and downright ABYSMAL/dangerous wet traction. It's well worth the extra 100 plus to get the next higher grade tire. I'd say go to tirerack.com, it's very hard to beat their prices.
