New PB in the C5

First off I know this is a Mustang site. :beer: I have been posting and looking at this for quite some time now. I'm a big fan of the 03-04 cobras and the new shelbys. My dad actually has an 07 GT500. I got the car about 2 1/2 years ago and was actually looking at 03-04 cobras and the C5 vettes. What sold me on the vette was the insurance being much lower and the gas mileage being much higher. When the car was stock and had the stock gears I was getting 24mpg stop-n-go and up to 35mpg highway. :rockon: I ran the car bone stock in REALLY good air and went 13.3@106mph on a lousy 2.2 60'. Launching a 6-speed with IRS and runflat tires is not easy.

Anyways I took out my C5 the other day to Atco Raceway to make my first passes ever with drag radials. The car has stock internals... stock heads, stock cam, no nitrous. DA that night was +270ft and track prep was pretty much non-existant.

Car: 99 coupe 6-speed

Mods: vararam, ported TB, LS6 intake, SSAC headers w/orx, spec twin clutch, RPM trans, RPM rear 3.90 gears, MT drag radials, tuned by Race Proven Motorsports (real close to Evoution Performance)

thats awesome to drop a full second off your et with a simple tire swap and some bolt ons. i personally love the way all vette's sound and they're always very impressive when it come's to mod wise. there's plenty of super fast vette's and i think they're bad. i would have one as a second car if i could afford it. Its surprising because atco usually has pretty decent track prep. like you said drop that 60' more and 11's are more than attainable
