Ok guys and gals, I just have to post this because I'm so excited about some new music coming out. It's a local band to Philly called Silvertide. They just got back from LA while recording a record (They just signed with J Records).
Let me back up - how did they get a record deal? How many bands have you heard of that had their choice of record company to sign with that weren't already proven? I've heard of only one personally - Silvertide!
They were recording with a well known artist here in Philly when they were offered a chance to open up for Aerosmith in Jersey. It was a small slot only worth a couple of songs before the real opening band was on stage.
Well, the crowd went nuts and they had their choice of companies to sign with.
I wanted to let everyone know that they have a single out called American Excess that you can pick up at K-Mart and Sam Goody and the likes. It's only a couple of bucks and I can promise you 100% you will not be disappointed if you actually have good taste in music.
There have been several reviews in local papers here in Philly; here's a quick one just to let you know I'm not alone when I say how great these guys are:
"When you've got a white patch in your beard and
suddenly realize that you've outlived Christ, you start
getting a little reflective. The radio seems to be speaking
in a different language altogether, and all your heroes turn
up in snarky "Where are they now?" spots on VH1, if at all.
It hits you that most of the kids aping 70's motifs are only
imagining a reality that you actuality lived through. You
bristle at the thought of the nu-youth culture, a sharp
divide between high tech sociopaths and emotionally crippled
retreatists, and you start to really wonder if rock and roll
is gonna survive, if it's even relevant in a world of cell
phones, emo, pregnant 14 years olds, and guns in high school
lockers. And then, quite unexpectedly, Silvertide's three
song sneak peek "American Excess" slips through your mail
slot, and you are no longer worried. These wild hearted sons
channel the ageless hipbone slither of soul n' swagger
demi-gods like the Faces, Aerosmith, Guns, Black Crowes,
Mother Love Bone, and the London Quireboys with such
effortless, Shamen-like ease that it ought to be obvious to
you, me, and everyone else that rock and roll is gonna be
just fine. I know, Buckcherry let you down-swallowed up by
their own American Excess, matter of fact- but Silvertide
seem more than capable of filling their snakeskin shoes as
the new arena ready sleaze rock messiahs. Go ahead, download
this EP from their website, and see if I'm bluffing. Best
thing to come out of Philly since liberty, man. The kids are
all f_kin' right."
LOL Allright, the single is American Excess and I HIGHLY recommend it if you're bored with what's come out of the record companies lately or just want a jab in the arm of something new.
