new motor problems??

Hey guys,

Just started my L with the new motor in it a couple days ago. It runs nice and smooth, but has a pinging noise. It almost sounds like a diesel! I wonder if it could be because the truck is still on the old shit tune, or if is because the timing is off??? I am 100 percent clueless. I would greatly appreciate any help. I can't WAIT to see how it sounds with the ported blower, and blocked off silencer holes! Thanks a lot :bowdown: Joe

Does the noise get quieter when the engine warms up? It could be piston slap. Who did the motor? There are many things it could be but hard to guess without hearing it. If you post a larger example of your avatar it would help.
