Well I came down on the 160th assignment for blackhawks. Honestly, not that excited about it b/c I'm already in a unit who those air assault missions. I'm currently deployed and my unit works with the 160th aka prince here downrange. Fortunately, I haven't came down on actual orders but my name is in the mix due to my experience on the new UH-60M and that I got plenty of assaults in the Mikes. Have any other army avaition crew cheifs experienced this? Also, do anyone know the aviation branch manager number. Been searching for it on AKO, HRC, etc... guess i'm not paying attention to detail... Looking to talk to the branch manager just due to the fact I want to play out another deployment with my unit. Any advice???

The 160th SOAR mission will keep you busy even when the wars are over. They are pretty picky over there, ask not to go. You must have impressed someone in your field to get pushed there. I think you would be missing an opportunity to make future contacts that in retrospect you will regret. There must be other reasons? Famaily or PCS'ing.

Well I'm establishing a family and my current unit does exactly what 160th do now just deal with less bs. I'm currently deployed and work along side with them guys. Don't get me wrong they do some B.A. stuff but not trying to go. Well devastate what I got going for me. Main reason they trying to slot me is b/c they are about to get the new Mikes that my unit already has which means I'm very much qualified and that they don't have to train me up at all...

Exactly? What unit is that? I did not know there were many units that support the forces or the missions the 160th does. At this point you are doing the right thing by trying to get your branch involved.

I'm not a liberty to speak of ne special forces unit that even carry on missions like 160th. I'm just trying to do the right thing for my family, plus I'm trying to make the military a career and if I do 160th it will change my point of view. I'm already attached to a secret top missions... No lie its fun as ish lol but I also have stability in this unit if I were to stay

Yes... I would still have to go through what they called "Green Platoon." Would be a fun process but I'm trying to weigh on other options. If they would have selected me like last year, I would've left without a doubt. Things for me are different now and trying to make the military a career, love my MOS

Yeah its pretty B.A. definitely when my pilot tells me... If you see anyone run anywhere near this damn aircraft you light his ass up. Funniest but nerve racking part to me is when we be landing in the Iraqis backyard and we got all the SF troops exiting our aircraft and iraqis start running... Man makes my day. Seen some crazy ish

10th ASOS has nothing on 160th and don't let them say so.

Special Operations Aviators are the best, trained, best armed, and best paid "escort service" in the world.

Until you have orders. You don't have orders.

But if you do get them and don't want to leave sign a Dec statement.

I thought it was an airborne assignment too. If you don't accept it then you won;t go. maybe Korea is in his future?

I spoke with current and former 160th soar personnel and their lifestyle isn't for me nor my family. Again, I work close to 160th SOAR now. Every assignment has its ups and downs which I do understand but this assignment especially is just not for me

put in a packet and go Warrant. You will like that MUCH better. Your family will like it better also. Its a different lifestyle and the pay is pretty good.
