I was up at Gainesville raceway today for some T&T. There were some fast stangs there (10 sec cars) but the race of the day for me was against a S/C Marauder. I could hear a slight whine at idle so I think it was a Vortec or Procharger. He had a FMIC tucked away nice a neat but I did see it as he came pulling up next to me in the staging lanes.

Here is our race:

______Marauder_________Me
RT_____.355____________.053
60FT___1.918___________1.887
330____5.411___________5.209
1/8____8.290____________7.903
1/8mph_85.42____________91.12
1000___10.802___________10.217
1/4____12.939___________12.161
1/4mph__104.61_________116.02

For a car of that weight a 12.9 is good. I wanted to know if this Marauder is a SVT member. I didn't get to talk after the run. I believe I would of had my 11s if my bottle pressures were not low. I could not get them above 875 today. This run was at 850lbs and also my 7th for the day so the N02 was getting low.

It might have been "Tallboy" on here, or possibly someone else on the Marauder board. There were also some much faster Marauders there too. 11 second ones. I know some of the Marauder guys who were there. Too bad I couldn't make it there. your car and mine would've been a very close race. Too close to call.

Billy,
Your cars looks like a monster. 12.0s in a 4400lb anything is fast.

Thanks Doc.....BTW, how much do GTO's weigh? Have you ever driven your car on a track scale? I've always liked those LS1/LS2/LS6 engines. Even though I have a DOHC engine that's also a Ford product, I've always been partial to the pushrod engine as well as to engines with greater displacement.

I have done a little weight reduction on the car. The last time I weighed the car with a 1/4 tank of gas it was 3577. I'm 185 so 3762 race weight. GTOs usually weigh in at 3725 or so. One thing I lack are gears for the dragstrip. I still have 3.46s. . .

AAAAHHHH, a set of 4.11's in the rear along with a decent pair of drag radials, and you'll be well into the 11 second bracket. And with the O/D transmission you have, it will still be reving nice and low on the highway. I have 4.56's in my car, and it's my daily driver, and only revs at 2700 RPM's while in O/D at 70 MPH.

It wasn't me at the track-I was in Atlanta. Mad props to the GTO! At least the GTOs showed up at the Southern Super Heavy Shootout! I didn't see one 300C, Magnum, or SRT. Only one Charger showed up. Ran 14.9-15.2 and driven by a woman. A pretty one at that.

you did have a better reaction time, how many times did you run him?

I ran him once. I had been there for 2 hours prior so I had ran quite a bit and it was hot and my two kids where running around . . .

I saw him run a few times and knew he had some forced induction so my last run we lined up and had a go. He was pretty consistant with the high 12s.

There are a bunch of 12 second Marauders out there now. There are even some that have run in the 11's with one posting an 11.1 run. Careful when you run up on one. We are a sneaky bunch. ;-)

I think it was Smokie that you ran, Doc. Here's his thread and vid:

Edit: Okay, maybe it wasn't Smokie. You said in your first post it was either a Vortec or Procharger. Smokie's a Trilogy Eaton. My bad. Here's the link anyways.

No, it wasn't smokie. The guy I ran was 8/10s slower then me. I ran a 12.1 to his 12.9 (fast for a 4000lb+ car) so there was no catching up!
