Not sure about fixing it for $500 or less since you have no real way of knowing if the head itself is damaged or not.

The car does look pretty clean so it's certainly worth saving and his price doesn't appear to be too bad really since there's honestly more than that in parts sitting there.

Really depends on the overall condition which we can't really tell from a couple exterior shots.

It looks great, and even if there is scoring on the cylinders that couldn't be honed out (to go along with the bent valves), you could get another motor with a solid bottom end and swap it in to make that a good save at $500.
