Need you edge guys help to settle a friendly debate...

My buddy and I were arguing over the phone about the 2000 Cobra R' (one of my dream cars) and he stated that a lot of people were pissed over FORD over rating the horse power. My response was that it was the 4.6L Cobra that had the over rated and had to be retro fitted a new exhaust item in order to reach the 305hp claim. (if my memory serves me) He asked why in the hell would I want such a POS for that kind of money? I love the R still ...right or wrong

Any of your comments would be appreciated .

Never herd the r being over rated. But the 99 cobra was that's why they had a recall for the fix to get 320hp

I also never heard the horsepower of the 2000 Cobra R was overrated.

The 320 hp 99 Cobra 4.6 was not overrated, rather it was defective. The recall fitted new mufflers, removed excessive metal flashing from the intake manifold (either by acid dipping or running an abrasive slurry through it) and reflashed the PCM to get it back up to it's advertised 320 hp.

judging by 3 seconds of googling, It looks like the number vary by who you ask, but being over rated was never a concern.
