Hey all,

I have a 12' GT500 with SVTPP pkg. 19" fronts and 20" rears. I currently have Nitto 555r 305/35/-20s on the rear. I have run these at the track, and can say they are "less" than good for track launch traction. I was also told to not go lower than 20psi on these tires due to the lack of sidewall on the 20's.

So fast forward to now.. I have a set of 15x10 Racerstars ready to mount some tires on. For now, I am getting a set of 275/50-15 555r's from a buddy to run on the wheels.

What I need to know, is an idea of what pressure range I should work with with a set of 26 tall 15" drag radials at the track? Should I start around 15psi and go down from there?

Thanks for any info/advice you can give,

Edit: I know 555r's are not the best track tire... but these 15's HAVE to be much better than the 20" no sidewall tires I have now.

I wouldn't run that low on a radial. You will lose contact patch in the middle.I would start around 20 and work up from there.Radials usually like more air than bias ply tires.

Thanks for the info. I got the 26" tires but they looked... not so good on my car.. and at my current power levels, I need 28's or 29's. I think I will be going with Hoosier 29" slicks on the 15x10's now. Should hook decent then. :)

Get a real tire.

What rear gear?

3.73 svtpp pkg. When I posted this, I was only pulley/tune. Now I have 13' tvs etc.. so definitely don't want 26" tires. Will be going with 29" tall slicks most likely.

The less the sidewall the less air u can run...my 20's work best at 15.5 psi. Theres not much flex with such a small sidewall.

Op I have had great success @ 15.5psi but everyone's car is not the same...trial and error.

I recently installed skinnies and 275/60R15 MT ET Street DR's on my 2011 GT Auto and have been running tire psi at 16 cold is this a good psi or should it be higher ? I average 1.53-1.61 60 ft times if the track is good. I also spray right off the line.

15-17 is usually a good spot, depends on track conditions and suspension set up.

you'll have to play around with it to find what works on your car.

be as consistent as possible with all other variables on the process
