So someone broke into my wife's car last night, its an 04 Cavalier with power locks.

Anyways, they broke in by jamming a scredriver or something in the door lock and then prying down...

The doors still lock fine, but the tumbler on the door is ****ed and needs replacing.

Does anyone know, if i go to a wrecker and get a new one, can i get it re-keyed to match the original key? Can i do it myself?

Either way, people ****ing suck and i hope the SOB dies.

Call a lock smith. They should be able to rekey a lock as long as the car doesn't have a new fancy key which I doubt with a Cavalier. It will probably cost about $50-$70.

Take the locksmith an extra door key and the lock assembly from the J/Y. I had this done once with a Honda, took a couple days and about $80~.
