I bought the car used and it came with an x3, o/r h pipe, catback, 255 lph fuel pump. The previous owner got the car custom tuned at a shop but it was having a mas problem i have since fixed so obviously the tune wasn't perfect though they did manage to pull out 20hp/20tq at the wheels extra :icon_omg:. I was playing with the tuner for the first time yesterday and wanted to see if i could upload a canned tune for the time being till i can get back to a tuner and get it redone now that the car is running properly. In the process of trying to update the software on the tuner it told me to return the cars tune to stock, which i did, then update the software. I ended up screwing up the update process and had to have sct help me get the tuner functioning again. Big thanks to them for getting it done quickly but i'm now running on a stock tune and it's throwing some codes. 02, 02 heater, bank1/2 running lean and p1000 for the obd port.

Now i'm a noob to v8's and tuning them but i cant understand how the car could be running lean with it all stock on the intake side and fuel system short of the larger pump. It certainly isnt getting any better mpg now.

Is there anyone that can help me get a tune going now since i haven't been able to get a hold of the tuner to try and get the ones they did before emailed to me? I'm in real need of quick help here. This is my only car that i have to drive an hour a day to and from work and i'd really like to not damage anything by driving it on a tune that's throwing these sorts of codes.

TIA

no one except a sct dealer can give you a tune- we can show you tunes but however no one has access to your ecu unless they pay to do so through SCT-and they have to prove it's their car. So-essentially I could tune your car, but would have to prove it's mine and pay 135 bux to enter the ECU. all that being said- plug your xcal into the obdII port. select program vehicle, custom tune, then it should come up with what ever tunes are in the hand held- what are they? select at least one that is on the menu, and post up what options it gives you. don't begin program-just back out and update this thread.

As i bricked the unit during the update and had to allow sct to remote into my pc to fix it i don't believe there are any tunes on it any more. But come 9:30 i'll be out at my car on break to look it over. Maybe at the very least i can add in some preset options for exhaust and what not.

Well i did go out and check at break and now for some reason it wont re-marry itself to my car. I'm currently trying to talk to the sct online tech support to see what i can do here.

Basically what i was told was that as my device is a custom tune only i need to go back to the guy who tuned it and get the files from him since the previous owner says he never got copies. Ugg

I ended up having to run up to PSI Speed Solutions, aka PSI Motorsports, to get the tune the previous owner had paid for. Frank, the owner, was extremely helpful answering all the questions I had and taking the time to help me out with digging up the tune and flashing it onto my x3 for me even though they were extremely busy with paying customers cars and setiing up their new shop. Ill certianly be going back there if/when it comes time for a retune. Which may be sooner rather than later as the previous owner only ran it up to 5700 rpms because he didn't have the filter/can clamped onto the mas and the screen was 2/3covered with leaves and debris causing it to knock badly past 6k. He did offer me the discounted rate on a retune even though I'm not the original purchaser and has a used bbk cold air kit he had that he offered for a very reasonable price. I'm unsure wether to pick that up or not as I've read mixed reviews on how well they perform and how many gains are really to be had. I had just intended on adding a k&n and calling it a day but this honestly wouldn't b much more. Would it be worth the money or no?

And I have to say they had some seriously sick cars in the shop they were working on. A gt500 they just got done adding a twin turbo kit on top of the stock sc, several turbo cars in various stages of being fabbed, a 3000hp 5xx cubic inch blown race stang and, while sadly not present today, the worlds fastest street car. A 5xx c.i. bb with a gear driven blower way larger than my head in a 69 z28 that's run 7.70s in the 1/4 and makes 2300 hp on race gas and 1400 on pump. If you search for worlds fastest street car on youtube you'll find it.
