Need help designing a logo??

My club is having a car show soon..And it is my first time making a flyer up.I want to make a cool logo for the flyer and the shirts and I need help tring to get the right software program or if there is a place online for free..
I have a pic I want to change around a little..What is the best way to do it??? Thanks...:beer:

Maybe flip the flames and angle them upwards to look like a set of wings? The circle change to a tire were the flamed wings come off of.
