Need advice on a truck purchase.

I have been thinking about picking up a cheap beater truck to handle my, and moms needs for our junk/lawn needs. Just called about a 96 4x4ram. Good shape, everything works, a/c, etc....
161k with reman motor, body us strong. He wants $2500. My budget is $1500. I had been looking for a ranger, but if I can get this forb$2000, should I?

96 ram and all he told you was about the reman motor? with 161k on it, it is probably on its 5th or 6th transmission.

I can sell you my all purpose utility truck for $1500: 85 F-250, rusty, ugly, simple, but will do everything you need it to.

He's right about the trans. If I was in your shoes, that 250 sounds like the ticket.
