This project started a while back not really having a direction other than making it fun, fast, reliable and most of all unique. I had originally wanted to go with a 5.4 Shelby motor/trans and was pretty sold on that idea until a good deal on a 2003 viper motor/t56 with only 27k on the clock came along. I went that direction and never looked back. The car was bought brand new back in 2000 for my wife as her first car. 2000 base model V6, it was involved in an accident, im not sure how bad but a couple of the plastic parts needed to be replaced. I sourced used bumpers and since the car really never sat in the garage the glass had lots of hard water spots and was just sun beaten so I found a good rear window and some side lights from a 40k mile car... Heres what it looked like when I took it apart.. I wanted to mold a rear wing on and obviously paint the car one solid color.. I had the wing done once and I didn't like how it came out, too round, so I changed it some.. I got a 8.8 from a 2003 MACH 1 and put in a Detroit locker, Moser 31 spline axles, Moser aluminum diff cover, and UPR Upper and lower CAs. I got a great deal on the Eibach total suspension kit (or whatever its called), Springs, shocks, and front and rear sway bars, for 400 bucks brand new.. I did all the body work, and 100% of the painting myself. I have never painted an entire car, just misc parts here and there. Quite the process for sure! It came out pretty good for a first timer but there is some decent orange peel that will need to be wet sanded and buffed out once all the fabrication is finished. Built some side exit exhaust rings. Back to paint... Loaded it up on my trailer and took it down to my good buddies shop. He's a custom cabinet guy and has a down draft spray booth for all his work. A pack of beer and he let me use it for a whole weekend. My Son helping degrease it.. My son messing around with an old hood scoop.. After it was back home from paint... I got to work on dropping the stock V6 to put this in... More coming...
