p2831 is shift fork "A" related and certainly could warrant a TCM replacement.
I've also seen that code tossed in other situations, all mechanical fault related though. A relearn and TCM replacement wouldn't have solved the issue if that was the case though.
As far as a 1000 mile "learn", no the adaptive relearn they had to do with TCM replacement negates any learning period.
The 1000 mile period only applies to a new clutch, if you still experience issues, take it back in.
