A current generation Yamaha R1 what my 2010 BMW M5 was to a Yamaha R6. I just realized this today and thought I'd share this earth-shattering revelation.
This of course won't mean anything to a non-sportbike person. Quick explanation: Yamaha R6 is a 600cc high-revving sportbike that weighs around 400lb and has about 120hp at the crank. The R1 ups the ante to 1,000cc, adds 50 lbs but also ups power to around 180hp and adds quite a bit more torque. The R1 is happy chugging along at lowish revs, and sounds like the car-equivalent of a V8. Hammer it, and the nose picks up and you're in trouble if you're not paying attention. The R6, on the other hand, likes to revved and is harder to get into trouble on, though of course much easier to get into trouble on that a typical cruiser.
