[QUOTE="2013.5.0, post: 14849094, member: 168033"] Yea I went without a loaner, too. It was a pain in the ass, but I will use this as ammunition if I have the same problem later on. Unless Ford owns the company that rents you the loaner (or they lend you a car off the dealer lot--I've never had a loaner so I don't know) they don't make money off it, so saving them 21 days' worth of cost is something. I could have fought for a car. I do wonder whether the damage on my engine was incidental. Ie the tick exists on other people's engines without the sort of damage that they found to mine. I can certainly see they don't want to replace another motor. They want to make money, and by withholding a loaner on their dime, by dragging out time, and by trying to put the onus on you to prove you did nothing wrong, they're pressuring you to fold it seems. This doesn't mean they might not be in disbelief this problem could happen again, but even if a given employee doesn't know the root cause, there's no way that a company this big doesn't have statical control procedures that would have brought this problem to light and which they would fully have investigated. We will probably never know what really causes this, because it's not in Ford's best interest to admit design flaws, if they exist. I know that if the problem crops up later on I will go down swinging too, but you can guarantgoddamnty they know about the oil change tick. Bearing clearances being out of spec and too tight by design, cylinder walls out of round, poor water jacket design with respect to strength of the cylinder wall, whatever is wrong they know what they built after 5 years of introspection.
