I just received this email update...

Here is a short interim update. There are many new and exciting plans in the works, so I would like to share a few in this update.
I recently spent TWO WEEKS on Mustang Island preparing the MustangFest 2010 venues and activities. Having met with officials in Port Aransas, we are planning to close Island Moorings Parkway (with the City's approval). So far, two City Councilmen and the City Manager have given the 'thumbs up' to the plan for MustangFest 2010. This will support our plans to display a Mile Of Mustangs on Mustang Island!

In early January, Mustang Tom (San Antonio Mustang Club) met with Island Tom (MustangFest Producer) at Port Royal on Mustang Island for MustangFest 2010 planning. We went over many aspects and we even stopped by Autorama —- and said hello to Buddy Jordan and Vern Kerouac, who had display vehicles in the show. We saw some of you there, too - good to see y'all.

Lodging discounts are GREAT this year with 10% OFF at the Host Club Hotel (The Dunes)! ALSO: $99 Deluxe Suites discounted to $69! (Plantation Suites). One change this year is the validation number —- you'll get it from MustangFest for discounts. Last year, we had several cancellations from Oklahoma on the same day -€” so many that the hotel called me. So, this year the room limit is ONE PER REGISTRANT. You will receive the discount with your nine-digit validation code for discounted rooms. If you wish to attend as a non-registrant, you will want to stay with a registrant or plan to pay the standard rate for lodging. Registrants will get the savings.

MustangFest LIVE Dinner Show is already planned and this year the dining will be entirely indoors with silverware and plates (I promised you and it will be). The show will start outside on the stage a bit later, to allow for casual dining. See The Mustang Man (Mustang Elvis) perform his originals like Mustang Moonlight, Mustang Fever and Mustang Man... in addition to classic hits and parodies like Mustang Mony (the BILLY IDOL version)! If you wish to enjoy the stage show with the group, plan to buy your tickets online or at the door for $10 —- more on that in the future. Tickets will be on a first-come basis until the show is sold out. Dinner options will be available for all (day-of-show folks AND pre-registrants). Pre-registrants will have package options, but ALL will be offered a ticket to the show. Again, the best savings will go to those we can plan for: the pre-registrants.

Mustang Boulevard will remain open to residents and emergency vehicles; Piper Boulevard will remain open also. The closure will be on Island Moorings Parkway (they re-paved it while we were there in January) and it LOOKS great with the new asphalt. Both ends will be closed to allow Mustang Tom and his crew (Host Club) to position each vehicle on the half-mile section of paradise, with both sides utilized. The 'times-two' result is a MILE OF MUSTANGS on Mustang Island! Spacing between vehicles will be based on number of registrations at time of show setup on Saturday morning. Those who are waiting for day-of-show registration will be parked following the pre-registered. This year we will also have JUDGED and DISPLAY ONLY parking available, so you can simply wash 'er up and show 'er off if you wish.

PALM SPRINGS: Much has been spoken about Palm Springs - —YES, MustangFest has been invited to Palm Springs, California for MustangFest: West —- PALM SPRINGS. I spent two weeks on my Palm Springs planning trip in November and met with officials from the Chamber, Entertainment Industries Committee, Palm Springs Exotic Car Auctions, the Chief of Police, casino executives, local charity executives, television station executives and many more. We have scheduled the event for March 2011, so look for more on that (lots of legal contract issues to complete). The entire event is expected to be a big hit in Palm Springs. Special thanks to Keith McCormick with PSECAs for his generosity and special liking of MustangFest. FYI: I even met with regional Mustang Club officials while in Palm Springs and we shot several HD segments for MustangFest TV —- more to follow!

Cruise To MustangFest will depart Mustang, Oklahoma on the morning of September 30, 2010 with lunch in central Texas and arrival into San Antonio at the same time as last year (4:30p). This is, again, a FREE FORM cruise and you may travel at your leisure on Thursday. Night life activities are being solidified now, so expect to hear about the plans for Thursday night activities soon. The folks at Jordan Ford have spoken with us about 2010, so we'll let you know soon.

On Friday (October 1, 2010), Cruise To MustangFest departs San Antonio NLT HIGH NOON. Safety briefing with Mustang Tom at 11:00a - BE THERE! Our GPS tracking feature will update EVERY 30 SECONDS, so online viewers will be able to see the lead Mustang move in the parking lot —- FREE! We will use the same username and password as last year, and they will be posted on the MustangFest website all throughout the Cruise To MustangFest! Expect to arrive on Mustang Island at approximately 3:30pm for check-in. This year, event check-in is at Plantation Suites on SH361.

CHECK-IN: You can expect to see folks you know at check-in and many hands will shake at check-in. This year, your MustangFest Registration Packet will be mailed to you before you hit the road, and goody bags will be available on Saturday during car show check-in. We expect to be there less than 30 minutes, so all can get to their respective hotels and get relaxed. REMEMBER: the dinner show starts at 7:00p and you'll not want to be late. The Mustang Man (Rob Carter) will perform at 7:00p until just before 9:00p, allowing you to go sleep, go party or go howl at the moon on the beach! We will not be joined this year by the Harvest Moon Regatta, as their schedule is driven by the lunar calendar and they will be on Mustang Island the FOURTH weekend in October - the town is YOURS!

DAY-OF-SHOW: Saturday's show (October 2, 2010) will start at 11am, so plan to be there early for best position (gates open at 8:00a to registrants). There will be 2 lines so pre-registrants need not wait in line. You will be directed right away to your spot with your MustangFest Registrant badge. Day-of show registrants should have EXACT CHANGE, as we need to work FAST!

Music will begin before 11am, and door prize winners will be posted on a central board so you won't have to hear numbers all day long. Oldies, classics, TV & movie theme songs, country and island music will cover most everybody's wants —- no rap or heavy metal. Again, we ask that NO STEREOS be allowed to interrupt the folks next to you. The Benefit Auction will begin at 1:00 P.M. The show will be over by 5pm and the entire island is yours to play on —- if you're a player.

MustangFest Hot Spots will be designated for your enjoyment and gatherings. Each will have its own ambience and entertainment (look in the program you'll receive at check-in). Coupons for dining will be available for some venues and others will have 'special' things for those who have the 'right stuff' to prove they're with MustangFest! You are GONNA HAVE FUN when the pilgrimage to MustangFest lands where the wild horses first arrived from Spain in the 17th century (1600s). There is a reason they first called it WILD Horse Island - —it's a WILD (and fun) place.
Awards Presentation will be held on Sunday (October 3, 2010) morning from 9:00a - 10:00a at the Host Club Hotel (The Dunes). Winners will be notified on Saturday afternoon by the Host Club Coordinator so they can choose to stay over if they were not planning to overnight on Saturday evening.
Producer's Farewell Party will follow on Sunday morning from 10:00a - Noon. MustangFest is officially over at HIGH NOON on Sunday. Take with you the friendships and memories of a lifetime. You will be chatting and clicking and calling for weeks after MustangFest. Complimentary snacks and drinks (coffee, juices, pastries, etc.) will be provided at no cost. You will be treated to a LIVE SHOW by The Mustang Man as he performs his Elvis in Hawaii show (sorry, no Colonel Parker with him this year). He will sing by the pool (weather permitting) and serenade the ladies before their final departure from Mustang Island!
Early Registration has been extended (temporarily), so get registered now. There will be many benefits to having a low registration number this year, so act fast or expect to pay standard registration as time goes by. The extension will end soon, so GO REGISTER NOW at Welcome to MustangFest 2010 | Mustang Island, Texas | Palm Springs, California —”- we will send you a VEHICLE INFO request to fill out after registration. BE AWARE: registration discounts will change VERY SOON - go register/checkout now and SAVE.

TELL A FRIEND or celebrity you may know. Many new and exciting things will be happening at MustangFest 2010. Look for the feature article in the December Mustang Times magazine - the OFFICIAL publication of the MCA (Mustang Club of America). See MustangFest ads monthly in Mustang Times and other media. Tell your friends about our mailing list. Tell any celebrity you may know —- especially if they own a Mustang! We are inviting a number of celebrities this year, but all will be kept under wraps until they show up where the show up. Any celeb who wishes to attend may contact me discretely at this address or by phone (only the Host Club Coordinator will know, outside of the Producer). All we need is ONE celeb to make an impact.
Google® Maps: You may view/map Saturday's show location on Mustang Island at: Google Maps and simply enter: MustangFest (then select Satellite on the top right if you wish to see the Island).
