Smoke Show
Get ready for the wildest competition at Mustang Week this year
By Steve Turner

On Wednesday the Mustang Week activities roll into Myrtle Beach Speedway, where participants are able to check out vendors, run the autocross course and make fun runs around the speedway oval. However, before the day is over one brave driver will be crowned winner of the Annual SVTPerformance Burnout Contest!

Every year this contest gets bigger and wilder and 2016 marks our ninth year hosting this display of rear-tire destruction. The event is judged by popular opinion. The louder the crowd represents for a particular driver, the better chance that entrant has to win the event. Of course, getting the crowd behind you usually requires some pretty wild antics as you can see from last year’s event

So you might have to take your tires down to the cords to win, like last year’s champion, but you’ll have a blast doing it. The contest is open to all Ford vehicles and all participants will receive a gift bag. Winners will receive a fabulous prize and bragging rights until next year’s event.

Here are the details you need to know:

If you want to emerge triumphant, come prepared like last year’s winner, Thomas Jarrell. He bolted on a spare set of wheels and tires because he knew he was going to burn them till they popped. Then he jacked up his Lightning, installed his street wheels and drove off with his prize.
