Motorcraft oil capacity change on 18 coyote engines...

So per motorcraft oil reference....

Coyote motors until 2017 7.5 quarts and 2018 motors 9.4 quarts w/o track pack

Funny because 207 F150 5.0 are 7.2 quarts and 2018's are 8.3 quarts..

Just wanted to give you guys a heads up

yep... my brother is a Ford tech and he's already seen a couple hurt motors come in because they've only put 7 quarts in it. FWIW he still sees people bringing Gen1 & Gen 2 5.0L's in with only the old school 5 quarts in it. Natural Selection...

Anytime you Change your oil you should run it, check for leaks. Then check level and top off if needed. So that’s just plain dumb to put 5 quarts in and call it good.
Simple google you can get an idea of what a vehicle takes as far as capacity. There should be a small variation due to filter selection.
