cats dont smell man. theyre odorless. if your cats stink then theyre bad or your tune is off, period.
catted or non catted? who cares thats all personal preference. i like my car quiet, thats the only reason mine are on. :coolman:

seeing as how the smell is off subject, is anyone gonna give an opinion on the whole header theory. if the "AIR PUMPS" so many people like to call our engines need to flow more in and out then whats up with the whole header problem? it is more efficient, right? i think this lays to rest the whole less restriction on the exhaust side is good.

Im sorry. I know what clogged cats smell like and its definetely not the odor mine has witht the stock catpipe on. AF with the cats was 11.8 all the way across. Timing at 23 degrees. AF with the O/R is 11.8 as well timing at 22 degrees.

Plus there is no way my car was going to put down 470+hp 480 tq with a 2.93 and no apten through a 4 cat H pipe. The gain was made from freeing up the exhaust, not getting rid of clogged cats.

And DON'T tell me without cats there is no difference... hahaha.

Hey baby, put you some VAGASIL on it and it will be alright...

hold the **** on. what makes you think an h pipe will change your a/f ratio.

the rear 02 sensors have dick to do with the a/f and the front ones are always before the cats.

therefore, the a/f will stay exactly the same.

Has anyone track tested...?

Has anyone track tested the differences between a quality catted x-pipe and a quality o/r x-pipe? Preferably from the same manufacturer. If not, I'd settle for some dyno testing. Does the differences in power widen the higher the horsepower level of the car? I would assume it does.

I had hi-flow convertors on my car until about a month ago. I installed the off road exhaust without convertors and put it on the dyno. Went from 18 lbs of boost to 17 lbs and lost about 20 hp & 40 rwtq. Went to the track yesterday and ran for the 1st time with the new exhaust. My 60 foot was off about a tenth. Track was not really hooking but i was off 3 tenths in the 330 foot-3 tenths off in the 1/8 and lost about 5 mph in the 1/4. Going to try a different track in the next couple of weeks. If no change i will be putting my old exhaust back on.

did you retune it? Ive never heard of losses of 20hp and deff not 40ft lbs form removing cats. boosted cars should have open exhaust as back pressure doesn't matter

I put it back on the dyno after the exhaust change and retuned. Like i stated earlier the boost dropped 1 lb. This has me puzzled also. I know the track wasn't hooking and i probably need new slicks. Normal 60 foot is between 1.49 & 1.53. 330 is in the 4.29 to 4.33. Best 60 foot yesterday was 1.63 and 4.59 330.The MPH in the 1/8 was 108 and 132 1/4. I have been 110 1/8. There was a head wind but i figured i would have went quicker than what i did. I haven't run the car in 6 months so i might be a little rusty but i'm going back in a couple of weeks and try again. If the same results the old exhaust is going back on.

We made a pull before he retuned it just to see what it was making so these were the numbers before the tune. I can't figure it out either. Like i said i'm going to run it 1 more time and if it does the same thing the old exhaust is going back on.
