Watching it on the news right now. There is a HUGE(biggest one in Vegas) construction site behind the Monte Carlo. I am sure they don't want that going up. 2,500 people a shift 24 hours a day on that site.

I could see all the smoke from my house, I didn't know whether it was the Monte Carlo or New York New York though. Thanks for the heads up.
was just in vegas a couple months ago for my 21st. A cab driver told us that construction site is a 30billion dollar project...
its called city center. First day they had the condos on the market they sold 70 million worth or real estate.

The fire looks like it is starting to spread down down a bit, and you can not see the name across the top anymore. But the smoke is a lot less than it was even 10 minutes ago.
They have the fire fighters on the roof and the balcony's of the rooms fighting the fire. They are saying it seems to be under control on the news. Bellaigo, NY NY and the MGM are all evacuated also. That has to be a mess down there. Esp on a Friday.

The local news is saying that there were welders doing work on the roof today. The west wing is contained and the southwest wing is almost contained. No major injuries reported as of yet.
They are saying most of the damage is cosmetic.
