I started SVTF after filling up with gas and BOOM!!! :pop:, smoke and a
pungent stench of burnt oil. After a tow back to the house I had time
to check out the under hood scene. Dual-Stage intake exploded in a
powerful backfire.
So, $600.00+ in parts and 12 hours later it's back in one piece again.
How can Ford get away with such poor engineering? The DSIM failed,
intake clamps failed, patients failed.
What's up with the clearance between the half-shaft and the oxygen
sensor? A little close, less than a half-inch from a rotating
assembly? WAY TO GO FORD!!!
Two TSB's for this, 03-04-04 covering the "DRIVABILITY" issue some had
experienced with the SVTF. Replace eight intake runner clamps and
re-flash the PCM. And 05-14-12 "Catalytic Converter Mounting Bracket
Failure", a broken mount would cause the o2 sensors' wiring to be
damaged by slamming the sensor repeatedly into the half-shaft while
driving.

Any body have any of these issues? Might want to check these out
before this happens to yours.

:fm: I've only 62,000 miles on the SVTF POS.
