Missing S Spring?

I pulled the cover off of the rear on my L and it looks like the factory trac loc is still in their but it if it is, it is missing the S spring. Is there an aftermarket limited slip that is not fully machined so it would look like a trac loc? It has what appears to be clutches on each side of the spider gears. The rear has been apart before. I think someone might have taken it out and not put it back in. I will have pictures up when I get home. Any ideas? Is there supposed to be an S spring in a 9.75 like in the 8.8?

Anything else I need to look at or do while I am replacing axle bearings and seals? Are there any markings I could look for on the ring gear that would tell me whether or not the gear has been changed out?

it is not missing. the 9.75 uses a bellville spring on the inner sides of each side gear. there is no s-spring like the 8.8
