Hey guys.. i'm running the normal 275 60 15 but was looking at their web site and notice they also selling 50s size.. the car has 373 gears so do you think going down a size to 50s would help or hurt?

also thinking about going for slicks on another set of rims for my car, so which size sould i be looking for..

thanks

Smaller overall diameter will lower the gear ratio.

Its a very good question. i would think it would help a bit, just because there would be less rotational mass being throw but with suficiant tire flex to hook up. Thats just my opinion and i maybe wrong too.

Hey bud :) I also have 3:73 gears in my auto 5.0 and was going to put my buick 28x9 slicks on the car and see what it would do.

Does your car hook with the current drag radials? I wanted 18 inch drag radials, but the price is too much vs 15s with slicks. My track is gone so i have to head out of state, but im expecting better ets with the new gear.

Did you get better ets with the auto and 3:73?

I'd stick with what you have or go with 295/55's since their a hair shorter.

275/50's will be almost 2 inches shorter than what you have now, making your effective gear ratio a little on the uncomfortable side for your current mods.

I'd skip slicks altogether, they will just be an unnessesary burden (ie. changing them at the track) for little to no gains.

my car 1.4x 60's, the mickey thompsons work, why change?

DRs would be best with your auto and you'll hook a tad bit better with the 275/60s due to a slightly taller side wall.

slicks work better with manuals

you know BW after racing my GN for 13 years on Slicks, its hard to get use to these DR's.. i swear the car doesnt sound like its spinning or falling on its face but i can NOT get out of the 1.82 to 1.84 range.. Before i was stuck in the 1.90's but after installing the relocation kit for the LCA it helped out a ton.
i'm in talks with a vendor in a Circle D converter but i'm up in the air for which one.
i want to get the bext times out of my car when its NA but i want to a blower in a year or two so i need to make sure that the converter i select will work with that. i DO NOT want to have to pull out and have to restall and work out problems. having to pull out my GN trans about 5 times i'm tired of smelling like ATF lol..

Cool Larry.. i wonder if those 285's would hit because of my car being lowered.. Maybe i'll just get another set of 275s and see how it works with a converter.
