First off, sorry if this has been beat to death, i did a search, and while i found a lot of info on timing chain tensioners, i didn't find anything about metal vs plastic.
onto my thread....
well, im replacing the timing chain tensioners in my 2003 mustang gt (it has a windsor in it). im changing them because one of them is bleeding down and not tensioning. it's a plastic one. Today i bought some new metal tensioners. Like all metal ones they ratchet, and they do not have gaskets.
basically the differences in the plastic vs metal: plastic have gaskets, but do not ratchet.
which is the better design and why? I've come up with pros/cons in my head about each design, but which do YOU guys prefer, and why?
FYI reusing my stock chains which have close to 100k miles on them
thanks!
