Hi,
I have a twin turbo 99 Cobra that has me stumped? I pulled in the garage this morning and noticed the car was idling poorly. I immediately noticed the pass side coil cover had smoke coming from it. I pulled it apart and noticed that the #5 COP was smoking and melted? It actually got so hot it burned the rubber coil cover gasket and melted the pigtail to the coil itself? Anyone have any idea why this could happen? Perhaps it shorted out internally.
It's a stock 99 coil with no aftermarket ignition products at all. Tuned with SCT PRP by me. Approx 600hp at the wheels. Car has always ran flawless until this point.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

I too had 2 COP's go bad on my Cobra when I hit the 600 mark. Not sure what caused them to go bad They weren't melted or smoking though. Replaced them and everything is OK now. I'm upgrading to the MSD COP's here real shortly.
